WOMEN OUT OF WORK

Sir,—The position of unemployed female clerical workers is really becoming serious, and "Observer" has, I am sure, voiced the opinion of the many who, like myself, are dependent on their earnings and are "hard up against it" to find employment in this city. Naturally, we feel that those married women working in offices, who have husbands to support them, and also those whose parents' financial position is such that it is unnecessary for them to work, should realise that only those who really need the money should be holding jobs at this time. I know one superannuated Government official who has lately given np his clerical position because lie felt he could not conscientiously continue- in a job that would mean a living to some other man. —I am, etc.,
