Offerings at the first sale of the. series today were 11,083 bales, including 2478 New Zealand. About C2SS were sold..1There was a very full attendance of buyers from all quarters. The tone of the market was somewhat hesitant', many buyers awaiting a basis upon -\vliiclr they feel justified in operating, bufc a good clearance was effected except!for lines of short and faulty wools. 'As.'compared with July closing rates, good combing merinos were firm, but prices 'were unchanged, although faulty and, shabby-lots were sold at par to 5 per cent, decline. Crossbreds were from IVz per .cent., to 10 per cent, easier. Slipes ■were-also 10 per cent, cheaper, but at the lower level slipes met with good competi-, titfn. New.- Zealand greasy crossbred, branded "Droxford," sold at 10',4d to 9d Neiv Zealand greasy crossbreds ranged ■from B%d to lHid. Best halfbred slipes branded WMF/T bands sold 13% d.
