MODERNISING BATTLESHIPS
WASHINGTON, 20th June.
Tho Navy Department announced plans for tho modernisation of eight more battleships in such a manner that approximately 3000 tons will be added to each ship. This will increaso tho > total tonnage bf American capital ship* to 475,000 tons.- " Tho alterations will comprise mainly,- , deck armour and auti-submarino "bliw tors."
