NEW ZEST IN THE TESTS
A British victory in the first Rugby Test match will add interest to the lour. There were many who prophesied an easy victory for New Zealand, and doubtless they are now i engaged in explaining why this was 'not won. A fair assessment of the .merits of the teams shows them to have been evenly matched. Britain certainly had no easy win, and, if the final points had been reversed, would not have sustained a crushing defeat. To gain a victory in the next Test New Zealand will need its best Rugby talent, playing in its "best form. The selectors have come to this conclusion quickly and have made certain changes in the .team for the second Test. But it must not be supposed that this will settle the issue at once. On a heavy ground and with a greasy ball Britain's backs were dangerous. Under different conditions, more favourable to their style of play, they may do much better. New Zealand is now on its mettle, and true sportsmen will look eagerly for the result. It is not going to be easy to beat the British.
