FARMERS ON TOUR.
SIGHT-SEEING IN WELLINGTON"
A party of farmers from the North of Auckland arrived in Wellington , "oil Staurday. They -were met by. Mr;' L. A. Paish, British Trade Commissioner, and he and Mr. Julian Foster, American Trade Commissioner, and members of the Dominion Farmers' Union saw to it that nothing was lacking in tie welcome to the visitors. Yesterday the visitors saw something of the city, an* an excursion was made to Day's Bay. To-day an inspection of the Wellington Woollen Company's mills and of the General Motors' works will give the visitors an insight into the industrial activities of Petone. The Women's' Division of the Farmers' Union is seeing to the entertainment of the ladies of the party. ' To-morrow the party starts on a tour northward which will gradually lead to home, but on the way the farming resources of several North Island districts will come under close scrutiny. Hawkes Bay is the first ob.iectiv*. and will b« reached via the Wairarapa. The party will then visit Palmerston North, where they will see the Massey Agricultural College. Tho pumice lands around Rotorua will be the next districtto be visited, and next week-end will be spent in this .locality.. The whole tour is designed to allow farmers to sco agricultural op'/ations and,farming methods of districts, other than their own, the totir being undertaken at a time of year when the farmer is most easily able to leave his own farm. Another party of farmers arrived in Wellington on Saturday. These were farmers from Poverty Bay, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, and Manarratu districts. They left for the South Island. by forry steamer for Christchurch tbo. same evening as they arrived in. Wellington. Their tour extends as fa*; ,couth as Invcrcargill,
