REPAIRS TO HOSPITAL
FURTHER GOVERNMENT GRANT
(From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 21st June. Advice has been received that Cabinet has made a further grant towards the repair of earthquake damage at the Nelson Hospital, making .the Government assistance £4900 out of a total cost of £5800. Kenneth Frank Tanner, aged 21 years, a railway clerk, was put on twelve months' probation at the Magistrate's Court to-day by Mr. .T. E. Maunsell, S.M., for , the theft of £8 8s, the. property of the Nelson Jockey Club. For the Jockey Club's Meeting in May admission tickets were sold by the railway officials for the club. When the club requested the payment of the £8 8s it was found to be missing, and in an interview with Detective Sinclair, Tanner admitted taking the money and destroying a number of unsold tickets. At Trafalgar Park to-day the Waimea and Rival senior Rugby teams drew, the score bing 3 all. Crudis kicked a penalty goal for Rival, and Lusty stored a try for Waimea, after, a splendid run by G. Watson, a promoted junior. Nelson defeated Wakatu by a large score.
