PETROL TANK BURSTS
FAMILIES FLEE FROM HOMES
LONDON, Ist May. Nearly a hundred families dashed from their homes clad in their night clothes when a fire occurred at a Walthamstow factory. Terrified mothers wrapped their children ia blankets and rushed them to the safety of the streets'. . ■ . ' The flames, accompanied by a series of alarming explosions heard for miles around, caused the bursting of n petrol tank. Pieces of timber flew high in the air, and several people narrowly escaped injury. Thousands of gallons of water were poured on the building unavailingly, and the factory was burned to, the ground in less than an hour.
