WITH COLD TEMPERATURES
The front of an extensive anticyclone is covering New Zealand. The centre of the .system, has been practically stationary since yesterday over Tasmania, where the pressure has been as high as 30.50 iuchos. Yesterday's depression has passed away eastward, and light to fresh south-westerly winds are now general over New Zealand, Sonio scattered rain has fallen since last night in the South Island, and in the Wellington and Taranaki districts; but Kawhia reported a heavy fall early this morning. Generally, however,1 though somewhat changeable, tho weather has been fair, with cold temperatures., . ■■•..• Auckland experienced ehangeablo conditions yesterday, sunshine and showers alternating, and tho wind being from south-west and west. But Wellington had a beautiful day, with light nbrth-westerlywinds andmild temperatures. A change to southerly, however, brought some light rain early this morning, the fall being six points. Christ church reports having : had a | cloudy morning yesterday, and southerly' winds in the afternoon, accompanied by light rain, throo points falling. Six degrees of frost wero registered last night. In Duiiedin tho weather was dull and : showery, with a light south-westerly wind. The forecast is for south-west to south-east winds, light to moderate generally, but freshening at times. The weather will bo fail' to fino generally, but cloudy occasionally, with scattered showers mainly in eastern and southern districts. Temperatures will be | eoTd, with inland frosts.
