ADDITION TO BUILDLYG S
Good progress is being made with the erection of the additions to the, Wellington Gas Company's, premises in Courtenay place, stated the manager of the company to a "Post" reporter to-day. Those additions will give a. further three, floors, making the < Gas Company's' building six stories in all, and doubling its present accommodation. A portion of , the new building has been leased, and on tho top floors the company intends to provide an up-to-date hall for lectures and demonstrations, in regard to cooking with gas. The top floor will also afford access to a-roof garden, from which' very line views of the city and harbour will be obtainable. The How demonstration and lecture hall will accommodate twice as many people as the old demonstration hall. ;''.■. ..'■'" It is expected, that the. new ..-buildings will'be. ready "for occupation, next August. ; The architects are. Messrs. Swan, Lawrence, and Swan; and ,'the contractors. Messrs. Mitchell and -King. The company has also laid, through the Scatoim.tirhn.cl a now 8-inch main' fro.ni Broadway, ■ .Miramar,. connecting with the Scatoun reticulation, which has been entirely relaid, and extended to Karaka Bay. . Two miles of cast-iron pipe, are to be landed by the company from the Ruahine noxt week; and these pipes will be used for different reticulations, including that of the Strathmore Estate, and .possiblyr for an extension to Moa Point. *■ ■
