Cold, unsettled, and shpwery conditions were experienced during Wednesday In most districts, but since last night there has been an improvement ovor most of the North ißland and in the northern and eastern portions of the South' Island. In the western districts south from Taranaki and in Otago and Southland, however, rain was falling this morning under the influence of a slight westerly lowuresaure wave which has been crossing the South Island. Tho latter has also caused a temporary change to westerly and northerly winds In the central provinces and on tho east .coast- north from Canterbury, but elsewhere moderate to fresh southerlies are still blowing. Pressure ia high to the westward, and is likely to rise soon over New Zealand.
