Tho Shaw, Savlll, and Albion Ilnsir Mataroa, which loft London on 27th March, and Southampton on tlio following day, arrived In tho stream at 1 o'clock last evening and berthed at 8 o'clock this morning at No. 2 Pipltca Wharf to discharge her passengers, malls, and cargo? Immediately after leaving Southampton, cold and heavy weather was experienced until after tho Azores Islands weru passed. From then on the weather was good, but almost uncomfortably warm in the Caribbean Sea. Colon was reached at midnight- on 10th April after a passage of .13 days li) hours, tho longest passago from Southampton to Colon since her engine alterations vrero made In 1928, the delay having been caused by tho heavy weather experienced. Oil and water were taken aboard at Colon, which was left at midday on 11th April, and Balboa at 6.45 on tho samo day. The' voyage across the Pacific was entirely agreeable and good time was made, tho average daily run Ibeine 360
miles, and the average speed 15.01 knots. The trip occupied 32 days 15 hours, with an average speed of 14.U7 knots. The Mataroa brought 14 saloon passengers, Including' two who embarked at Panama, and 100 third class passengers. The light at Jack's Point will be converted to an automatic light on 29th May.
