WINDING UP THE;FUND

The early closing of the relief fund established for the purpose of affording assistance to those affected by the disastrous earthquake last year was foreshadowed to-day by the Minister in charge of the Department■■ of Scientific and Industrial Eesearch (the Hon. H. Atmore). < Replying-to a question, Mr. Atmore said that the amount standing to the credit of the fund was now very small, and a meeting of the committee would be held shortly for the purpose of disposing of further claims and winding up the fund. . He added that applications were still being considered, though the money still in hand would not g' very far. ■
