BATTING AND BOWLING
The remainder of the batting, and bowliug averages of the senior teams playing under the Wellington Cricket Association are given below, following on those of the Wellington, University, and Kilbirnie Clubs, published in "The Post" recently. Among the batsmen it will be noticed that H. Foley (Institute) heads the list with an average or 87.5 runs per innings. lie is closely followed by A. _C. Tripe (University), with an average of 87. Tripe, however, was helped by the fact that, ho had two unfinished strikes ii. three innings, and in the matter of aggregates he is well down the list. The most runs'i'ov the season were compiled by A. M. Hollings (University), who showed a return to his form of .a few seasons ago by hitting up 751 runs, with an average of 75.1. C. S. Dempster (Institute), who topped the 1000 mark last season, did not again score so prolifically, but he is well to the fore with a total of 575, and an average of 71. Another to score well was W. F. Aiirey (Wellington), who compiled' 629, with an average of 69.88. B. Ross (Hutt) also passed 500, scoring 527 in ten completed innings. Those who finished with averages of over 50, in addition to the batsmen na«ied above, were S. Cutts (Kilbirnie), K. C. James (Old Boys), and H. B. Massey,; C. Wareham, and h. Burt (al' of Insttute). , , , One of the most successful bowlers was D. Blundell (Wellington), who com: menced when the matches were well under way, and finished up with a bag of 30 wickets and a fine average of 14.86 runs per wicket. The only others to capture more than 30 wickets were R. Crook (Kilbirnie), 33, at an average cost of 17.12 tuns, and R. W. Hope (Petone), 32, with an average of 22.13. A number of bowK ers had a successful season and reached the twenties. Among those who did best were F. T. Badcock, who had a short season, C. Parsloe, and A. Duncan (of Old Boys), F. Bryant and W. A. Baker (Midland), M. Henderson, H. Prince, and J. Fortune (Institute), F. C. Warhes, H. M. M'Girr, and E. Judd (Hutt), G. A. Rotherham and S. Brice (Petone), A. M. Cousins (Wellington), and R. Crook and W. Tucker (Kilbirnie).
