JI.UC. CAPTAIN'S COMMENT

The captain ot itho M.C.O. team (A. X H. 11. Gilhgan), in his letter to the Now Zealand Council, has commented on the following playeis an addition to those inoationcd in last ( night's "Post".— Ta'bot and Bobeits (Canteibuiy): Both avo veiy promising players, but seem unceitain against fast bowling. Undoubtedly they should impiove with English experience. Dunning (Otago): A veiy good length bowlci, and bowled well against the M.C.C. Coupland (Southland): li he could play in better-class cucket he might become a better bowler. Camei on (Bangitikei): Batted well against the M.C.C. team, though he suffeied fiom the common complaint of nibbling at the off ball. Anthony (Auckland): As good a cricketei as any we played againul. Gillespie (Auckland): In our opinion he should have played for New Zealand. He is a very sound bat, but draws away from fast bowling when playing back. Dul^epsinhji considers him better than Weir. Naisinith (Taranaki): A very useful bat and should do veiy well if he had big match experience. Masscy (Wai»arapa): Bowloy reckons him one of the best bowlers he ' has played against. Matheson (Auckland)': He is the most pacy bowler in New Zealand, but has an exaggerated run.' Playing day in and day out in England his rim. would cause him to break down sooner or later or become a slow medium after a few overs. 1 Diekinsou\ (Otago): He has a very low delivery, which is very much against him, but in the second Test in ■Wellington, bowled very well for short spells. ■ Badcock (Otago): He is undoubtedly a very good bowler, and if, ho ig not ' availablo for England, Dunning should prove a useful substitute. Mr. Gilligan made no reference to' players such as Dempster, James, Mer-1 ritt, Page. Mills, and Blunt, who would | be certainties for any New Zealand team. ■ ' I
