WEDDINGS
The wedding was solemnised recently at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Morrinsvillo, of Miss Ena Bodmin, of Morrinsville, to Mr. Horace Athea, eldest . son of Mr. and Mrs. ]?. Athea, Island Bay, AVellingtoH. Canon H. E. B. Gillespie performed the ceremony and Mr. F. A. Jennings played the wedding music.- The bride wore a frock of shell pink satin beaute, with georgette yoke and hem falling gracefully to the ankles, trimmed with silver.-. Her veil of shell pink silk tullo with lace edging was held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, freesias, carnations, and roses, with silver leaves and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Misses Mavis Sweetapple and Mona Spinloy, who wore frocks of maize and powder blue shot taffeta respectively, with hats to tone trimmed with velvet flowers and ribbons, their bouquets being of golden chrysanthemums and blue delphiniums. Messrs. Ronald and Eoy Athea were bost man and groomsman respectively. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Lounge Tea Rooms, where Mrs. Bodmin received her guests, wearing a frock of nut brown French lace over georgette, with a black pandan hat. Her bouquet was of autumn-tint-ed flowers. Mrs.: Athea' (mother of the bridegroom), wore floral chiffon velvet, trimmed with beige, georgette, with velour hat to match, and she carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums and zinnias in shades to .tone -with her frock. The bride and bridegroom left later for a motor tour 'of the North Island. ' .: A recent wedding solemnised at All Saints' Church, Kilbirnie, was that of Ida May, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E; Bailey, Hataitai, and Alfred Laurie,.son of Mr. and Mrs. H. ■Ev. Stevens, of AVyndham, Southland. Tho Rev. Canon Sykcs officiated. Tho bride's charming frock was of shellpink satin veiled with cream lace, tho pointed flouncings being ' embroidered in pink and silver. ■■ The veil of pink tulle was embroidered to match, and the bouquet carried was of pale pink roses, carnations, and maidenhair fern. Misses Myra Bailey and Ediua Stevens (Ternuka) were bridesmaids. Their frocks were of primrose and -green satin beaute respectively with diamante trimming.- The felt hats worn wore to tone, upturned in the front with a diamante buckle. The bouquets carried toned.'with the frocks,1 Messrs. Ray Kent-Jolmstone and Stanley Cross were best man and groomsman respectively. The reception was held.at Taia Hall, Kilbirnie. Mrs. Bailey, who received the guests, wore a frock, of navy crepe, do chine with- .touches of lemon colour, a crepe - satin, coat and felt hat to tone,, her bouquet being of shaded roses and autumn leaves. Mrs. Stevens (mother of the bridegroom) was in navy blue with a felt hat of tho same 'shade, and carried d bouquet of crimson roses. Tha bride and bridegroom left later "for., a tour in /the North., the bride wearing a costume of wine-coloured satin, . with a coat of fawn face-cloth, and a fur felt hat to match. *-■:■ ' \ The diamond jubilee of -the wedding of Mr.; and Mrs. N. W. Taylor, of Green lane,' Auckland, was celebrated on Saturday. Relatives and a host of friends greeted Mr. and Mrs. Taylor 'personally and by telegraph extending congratulations on the happy, event, says the, "New Zealand.Herald." In reminiscences inspired by the occasion, Mr. Taylor recalled that when he and Mrs. Taylor arrived in Australia in 1886 with their young family thoy found conditions so .trying that, had they possessed sufficient capital, they would have returned* to England. "We. have been very £lad since that we did not ha'v.-i the means then 'to fulfil our wishes as that would have meant we would not have> como to New Zealand, .where, we, have spent many happy yoars," Mr. Taylor said...'■ ■..'■
