THIS SEASON'S ENTRIES

INCREASE OVER LAST YEAR

The total entries received by the Wellington Rugby Union for the competitions in the various. grades this season show an increase over the number entered, at the beginning of last season. There- is an eighth grade this season, however, ■accounting for nine entries, but even without taking into account the entries for this grade, the figures show an increase of twclyc teams. In addition there are 53 teams in the secondary schools competitions, which bring this year's total to 217 teams, without taking into account the teams playing under the Wellington Primary Schools' Union. ,Tho entries are as follow, with last, year's figures given in parentheses:—Senior A 10 (10), senior B 11 (11), junior 24 (21), third' 2G (2G), intermediate 14 (12), fourth 26 (23), fifth 20 (16)', sixth 12 (11), seventh 12 (13), eighth 9 (—). Total, IG4 (143). . . Secondary Schools.—First grade 10, second grade 9, third grade 16, fourth grade 18; total 53—grand total 217. CLUB ENTEIES, .The Wellington Club, with 12, teams, has the largest entry, closely followed by Oriental with 11 teams; .Miramar,' Petone, and Wellington. College Old Boys have each entered 9 teams; Athletic, Beihampore, and Marist each have 8; Hutt, Melrose, Poneke, Selwyii, and University, 7 each; Eastbourne, Johnsonville, Onslow, and Upper Hutt, 6 each; St. Patricks-College Old Boys, Boys' Institute, Karori, Moera, j 4; Taita- and Technical College Old I Boys, 3; Seatoun, 2; whilst Kaiwarra, Porirua, Scots College Old Boys, Teachers' Training College,'.'add Railway Training School each field one team. The first fifteens of Wellington and St. Patrick's Colleges play in tho, third grade competition, 4 n^ other teams from those institutions play in the secondary: schools' competitions.
