LODGE MEETINGS
Zealandia Lodge, No. 48, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at Newtown last week, B/o. R. W. Harvey, &.G., presiding .over a fair attendance. Official visits were received from the D.D.G.M., Bio. J; Nind, P.C.P., Bro. P. H. Trim, P.D.D.G.M., South Taranaki District, and Bro. H. F. Moffett, D.DIG.M., South Canterbury District. A motion- of condolence with the relatives of the late Bro. Carolan was passed, members standing in silence. Pour members were reported on the sick list, and relative sick pay was passed. Satisfactory reports on the sick brethren were, received,: The report of the executive in regard to the proposed increase in the medical fund subscription was adopted. The meeting concluded with cards. The fortnightly meeting of Maraenui" Lodge, No. 124, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held recently, Bro. J. A: Elliott, N.G., presiding over a large attendance. Several reports were received, and invitations were accepted. During the' evening an official visit was received from* Cleveland Lodge to play for the district "500" shield. Cleveland eventually turned out winners after a very enjoyable evening by 7 games to 5. The fortnightly meeting of Wildey Lodge, No. 107, 1.0.0.X, N.Z., was held last week, Bro. C. E. Tanner, N.G., presiding over a fair attendance. Sick pay and general accounts were passed for payment. One brother was reported entering hospital for an operation, whilst one brother was reported deceased. The sick visitor tendered his report ■on visitation of sick members, being thanked by the lodge for the valuable services he had rendered. The Noble Grand ordered the Charier to be draped in respect to the late Brother Matchett,. all members standing in silence. The late brother was accorded the' last rites of an Oddfellow, his funeral being attended by a good muster- of members. Routine business having been concluded, the usual harmony was indulged in. . , . The fortnightly meeting of Kahin Rebekah Lodge, No. 49, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held last week, Sister Wilson presiding. Accounts were passed for payment, andcorrespondence read aud received. Bros. Tahiwi and Elliott congratulated officers on 'their elevation to office. The fortniphtly meeting bf Cleveland Lodge, No. 13, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held at Brooklyn recently, Bro. G. H. Blanchard presiding over a good attendance. One member was declared off the sick list, and one other was' reported as being still sick. Quarterly accounts were passed tor payment,- and the position of each fund was pliown to be satisfactory. Considerable discussion arose in connection with the Grand Lodge balance-sheet ~ for the year ended 31st December, and while members were pleased to note the sound financial condition of funds, it was considered that some action should be taken to reduce levies on members, even if surplus funds were utilised by Grand Lodge towards that end. The delegate reported on the condition of the District Medical Fund, and advised that an increased levy had been decided on. It was decided to_, request the D.D.G.M. to postpone the installation of officers until '7th May. A. "novel competition ended an enjoyable evening.
