THE BY-ELECTION RESULT
A statement by the United candidate iv tho Parnell by-election (Mr. W. A. Donald) that if he were not returned a General Election, costing tho country a good deal of money, would follow, was repudiated by the Reform member for Thames,' speaking at Auckland on Monday evening. ' ( ■ Mr. Ejamnel said he did not hold that view. Important/as the by-election was, lie did not believe it would have any bearing on the life of the present Parliament, but it would be an indication; of what the future held politically. •
