INTO OTHER HANDS?
LEASE OE GEAR ISLAND
Although the, Hutt Eiver Board last week decided that Gear Island should be leased for five years to the Shandon Golf Club and Mr.' A. Lee, there is a possibility that the island may yet fall into other hands. ' ■
Two notices of motion have been received,at the board's office, one from Mr. J. Mitchell, to rescind the ,resolution leasing the island to the golf .club and Mr. Lee, with a view to considering further the, various tenders, and the other from Mr. G. A. Chapman, to reconsider the resolution passed at the last meeting of the board." Both these motions will be considered at the meeting to be held on 4th March, unless a majority of the five members make application for a special meeting. However, there is plenty of. time to reconsider the question, as the newlease of the island does not commence until. Ist July.' |i l; ' , .-'-: --.. ' .-.',.,
