"USE MORE WOOL?"
LONDON, 22nd February
"A 'Use More Wool' campaign will not materially assist the industry unless the vagaries of fashion, are also met by methods o£ .production and utilisation founded on the same' bases as those of its synthetic rivals—namely, a full knowledge of the scientific fundamentals of the fibre itself," states Dr. S. G. Barker, director of research to the British Research Association for the Woollen and Worsted Industries. . "Thus a diversity of effects and-an-"enhancement of variety of products meeting the market . demands will become possible. Wool is the finest possible material for body clothing. It is light, has tensile strength equalling cast-iron, and creates heat in itself when •wetted. British manufacturers, through scientific investigation, can link up with their Dominion colleagues to exploit wool perhaps on entirely new lines, thus leading to an assured future."
