FAST TIMES AT DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN, This Day. An international athletic.meeting was held at* the Caledonian Ground on Saturday afternoon in fine weather, but there was.a heavy wind blowing. Nevertheless, G. A. Goldinj, of Australia, ran a wonderful race in the--440yds short limit handicap, which he won by three yards from L. C. JM'Lachlan, who was iv receipt of eight: yards. The time was 50 3-ssec, the fastest ever recorded on the track.
Leo Lennoud,lof America, won. the mile scratch race by three yards from J. G. Barnes in tain 37sec. J. J. Morris was third. ■ • .
E. O. Johnson did 45ft S/iin in the hop, step, and jump, but was favoured by wind. J. G. Leckie threw the hammer 136 ft 7 in against, the wind.
B. Provo cleared 10ft 6in in ' the pole vault. . .
Barnes, of Canterbury, Lermond, 'Golding, and Bornlee. of Canterbury, competed in a relay handicap, but tailed to conclude the start of 125 yds over a mile, the Leith Club winning in 3miu 44 4-osec.
