The weather means a great deal in the success of a sports meeting. For this afternoon's big gathering on the Petone Oval, where the Wellington provincial amateur athletic and cycling champioushisp are being held, there can bo no complaint on the score of the weather, so with dry conditions and a light breeze, and with a galaxy of talent taking part, the meeting should be an outstanding success. Each of the sub-centres under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Centre is. well represented, and there is also taking part a team from the Motueka Club, onwhose efforts to foster the sport in its district the Centre has always taken a keen interest.
