WOMEN AND WORK

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —A few decades back women began to compete with men in industry. Now; they are competing amongst, themselves. We are being told that single girls cannot get jobs while married women can and do. The single, should marry, and thereby remedy the matter. But why the objection to this "double income" state? Is it not in compliance with the 'economic scheme of things, which is based on greed and selfishness. The "double income* couple rank with the landlords, the traders, the brokers —they are out for what they can get out of the open market. The married business woman opens a business and competes, and has the advantage of her husband's backing. My advice to other couples is to do the same. To single girls, to marry and get a job. This is the day for selfishness and grab. Woe to the honest poor. When the leaders o£ the business world show the way, perhaps the less fortunate brethren will also emulate them. Until then lam;

ONE OF THE GO-GETTERS.
