FATAL INJURIES

AUCKLAND. 20th February. Fatal injuries were received by Thomas Irwin, aged 43, labourer, when he ■was knocked down by a heavy motor lorry- at the corner of Hopctoun street and Ponsonby road, about 9 o'clock this morning. He died in the Auckland Hospital shortly afterwards. The deceased was employed in tarring and sanding work in Hopetoun street, and the lorry arrived with a load of sand. "Warning of the approach of the vehicle was given to Irwin, and when he hurried in front of the lorry it struck him, the wheel passing over his right thigh. He is survived by a wife and three children.
