BIG FIRE IN SYDNEY

FURNITURE STORE DESTROYED

SYDNEY, 20th February.

■ A fire which caused damage to the extent of £60,000 was responsible! for many dramatic incidents at Camperdown, a suburb--of Sydney, to-day, when the Kilner-Ferns Company's large furniture store was gutted, with a tremendous quantity of furniture, belonging to a hundred private owners. The. flames reached a height of 100 feet, and there were'repeated explosions from the fusing of eleetrie wires and falling walls. Terrific heat kept a huge crowd of onlookers at bay. The firemen had a gruelling time, and there were narrow escapes from injury. The occupants of adjoining buildings were driven ont "three hours before the blaze was got tinder control.
