The harbourmaster, Captain J. X Dawson. who is accompanied by his wife and daughter, left by the Tamaroa to-day on a trip to Napier and Waikokopu. The vessel ia expected to arrive back towards the'end of next week.

END OF THE AURIGA.

The hulk Amiga was recently towed to sea from I'ort Melbourne and sunk outside Purl Hiillip Heads. The Auriga was an. iron vessel of -17G tons. She was built in Suiideiland in ISCII, ami Was for many years ongaged In Ihe wool trade between the South Island of .New Zealand and London. . She then changed hands, was converted from a baniue into a liar(|uctino. and was. sold toWarrmrton and Stiiis, and used to carry coal between Sydney, and Newcastle, being generally towed by the tug Fearless. ' In 1010 she was bought by Howard Smith. Ltd.. and was. towed from Sydney to Melbourne by the old steamer Leura, which is now a hulk at ltisdon. At' Melbourne the company dismantled the old sailing ship, and she has been employed as a coal hulk since.

KENT PASSES CANAL.

The Kent, winch left Picton on 29th January for London and the West Coast ports of the United Kingdom, arrived at. Panama on Tuesday, and sailed on the following day.

MATAKAWA LIGHT OUT.

The Marine Department advises that the Miitakawn light at East Cape is out, and will be put in order as soon, as possible.

TUTANEKAI'S MOVEMENTS.

The Tutanekai was expected to arrive back at Wellington to-day from her trip round the Cook Strait lights. and is to leave next week for the northern lights.
