REPORT INCORRECT
ENGAGEMENT OF COACH
According to a report which has been published in Auckland, M. S. Nichols, the fast bowler with the M.C.C. team, has accepted- an engagement as coach to the Wellington Cricket Association next sea-, son. The report, which was sent from Hamilton, where the M.C.C. ■ team was playing yesterday, adds: . "He returns Homo with • the present team, of course, but will come-back to New Zealand at the beginning of October. Nichols, who is a good batsman in addition to his bowling, is the second Essex professional to come to the Dominion, the Otago Association having previously engaged L. C. Eastman, of that county, for two seasons*."
Mr. P. B. Broad, chairman of the Wellington Cricket; Association, stated to-day that the report that Nichols had been engaged to coach here was. quite wrong. The question as to whether a coach should be appointed would be considered shortly by the Wellington Ciicket Association's Management Committee.
