DRUNK ON MOTOR LORRY

ther.. down .the road, Inspector Avery, who was . on, point duty at John street, about 5 o'clock last made an investigation. As a result, a carrier, Andrew Anderson, ageii 62, was charged before Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day with being drunk while in charge of a motor-lorry in Ade-
laide road.
. Mr. E. C. Wiren appeared for the accused, who pleaded guilty. ■ •
Sub-Inspector Lander said that when the inspector arrived, he found the defendant sitting at the wheel of the lorry in an intoxicated condition. -The defendant admitted having had six drinks. He was a married man and a licensed carrier living at Miramar. . ■ ■ ■ Mr. Wiren i. said J;hat' defendant's wife was ill, and she' had been told that she would have, to seek a change of climate. The .defendant had made arrangements to sell his business and.go. to .another town for his wife's sake, and all.this bad made him a very worried man of late. . I
The Magistrate fined Anderson £20, in default one month's imprisonment. One month was-allowed in which to find the money. .'
