LODGE MEETINGS
Port Nicholson' Encampment, No. 6", 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its monthly meeting on Monday evening, the C.P., Patriarch J. C.1 E. Turner, presiding1.. There, was'a good attendance. One candidate was raised to tho Patriarchal degree. A social was appointed and other encampment business transacted. At the close of the meeting a lecture on "Modern Humour" was given by the C.P., enlivened by a number of. stories. ■■ : .' The fortnightly meeting of ' ■ Onslqw Lodge, No. 128, 1.0.0. F., N.Zi, was, held recently at Khandallah, Bro. H. A. Thomas, SN.G., prcsidiug over a "good ■•air* tendance. One new member }vas. initiated and one application for membership j'.vas received. The initiation was undertaken by a team from Southern Cross Lodge. After the business of the lodge concluded the evening was spent in harmony.'SiMembers of Onslow Lodge tendered their sincere thanks and appreciation to Bro. M'Mahon and his team from Southern Cross. The usual meeting of Bellevue1 Lodge, No. 128, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held recently at Lower Hutt, when Bro. H. J. Wotten, N.G., presided over a good attendance. Various accounts were nassed for payment, including several medical l-efunds and sick pay claims on behalf of members. ' The following visitors.:1 were present, and were accorded a hearty ,welcome:—P.G., D. WrattcD, of : Owaka Lodge," Bro. Tanner, V.G. of Wildey Lodge, and P.G. G. Bugg, secretary of Heretaunga Lodge. Ngati-awa Lodge, No. 152,1.0.0. F. N.Z., held its meeting recently at Moera, when Bro. Kay, N.G., presided over a fair attendance. Accounts were passed for, payment. One candidate was proposed;' After the usual lodge business was concluded those present enjoyed cards. V.V
Waiwhetu Lodge, No. 13G, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., recently held its fortnightly meeting at Upper Hutt, when Bro. Hudson, N.G., presided over a fair attendance. Several amounts of sick pay and medical refunds were passed. for payment. After other lodge business was finished a pleasant evening was spent at cards.
Heretaunga Lodge, No. 115, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at Petone last week, Bro. A. J. Bargh presiding over a good attendance. Sick pay and correspondence was dealt with. One member was initiated. It was decided to play Maranui Lodge for the "000" shield at the next meeting. Cards concluded the evening Star of Petone Rebekah Lodge, No. 45, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting last week, Sister Isaac, N-G., presiding over a good attendance. Various accounts and correspondence were dealt, with, and one member was initiated. Reports of committees were received.
The fortnightly meeting of Rahiri Rebekah Lodge, No. 49, 1.0.0. F., "N.Z., was held last Sister Butler, N.G., presiding. Accounts were passed for payment, and one candidate was nominated for membership. The Challenge Cup, which had been won by Sister Nellie Josephs, was presented by District Lodge, and one. candidate was initiated. Having been -ivised that Sister R. Finch, L.D.D.G.M., had lost her mother by death, that sister's Milford and M'Donald had lost their brother, the lodge stood in silence for two minutes.
Wellcsley, Juvenile Lodge, No. 7, 1.0.6. F., N.Z., held its bi-monthly meeting last week, Bro. J. A. Evans, P.N,G., presiding over a large attendance. A member was reported still to be on the sick list, but progressing favourably. One candidate was nominated for membenship. After conclusion of business the juveniles were entertained by members of Cleveland Lodge, who challenged the juveniles at a game of indoor bowls, the latter winning by a narrow margin.
; Zealandia Lodge, No. 48, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at Newtown last week, Bro. R. W. Harvey, N.G., presiding over a good attendance, Visitors present included Bro. J. Elliott, N.G., and officers of Maraenui Lodge on an official visit. Four members were reported to be still on the sick list, and relative sick pay was passed. A prior challenge having been received from the Cleveland Lodge for the Bradley Memorial Cribbage Shield, the challenge entered at the previous meeting was, not accepted by the District Lodge. It was decided, however, to enter a further challenge. One candidate was nominated for membership. 4 discussion regarding the increased hospital rates took place, and it was finally decided that a summoned meeting be called, when the matter will be further discussed. Cards concluded the evening.
