CLUB OFFICERS' MATCH
The annual pairs contest between the secretaries and traasurors of the various city and suburban clubs took place on the Wellington Club's green yesterday afternoon in iino, but overcast weather. The- Wellington Centre pair, Messrs. Mayor and Shallcrass, established the greatest margin, but as they did not represent a- club they stood aside with the Hataitai pair, Messrs. Martin and Kersliaw. • The scores were as follows: Wellington (Berry and Salok), 23; Upper Hutt (Greig and Warner), 20. Thorndon (Casey and do Tourottes), 20; Island Bay (Dixon and Mcllroy), 10. Hataitai (Martin and Kcrshaw), 32; Plimmorton (Ncalo and Garner), 15Lyall Bay (Marshall and O'Gorman), 26; Newtown (Salmon , and Chegwidden), 24. Victoria (Clark and Chittcy), 17; Johnsonville (Carman and Johnson), Centre (Mayer and Shallcrass), 31; Khandallah (Rodger and Bath), 8. Karori (Lyall and 'Smiley), 23;. Eastbourne (Pilcher and Duff), 11. Hutt (Burgess and Stouehouse), 18; Seatoun (Scarfe and Brown), 14. Kelburn'• (Wright and Young), . 25; Woburn (Robson and Rowc), 20. The president of the centre* (Mr. IT. Mayer) congratulated the winners on their success, and pinned on the badges, which had been generously presented by Mr. S. Potter (of the Wellington Club):' '. '■ ■ ' Messrs. Kcrshaw and Martin replied briefly, emphasising that, after all_ it was the enjoyment of the game which had given them the greatest pleasure. Mr. Potter was specially honoured as the originator of the competition, and in reply said that he hoped the fixture would be-continued for all time.
