The first heat of the yacht races for theForster Cup resulted, after a strenuous tussles Gwylan, 1; Caress, Sj and Tassie, 3. These were the only boats to finish out of twelve starters. A half galo was blowing and hdavy seas put the others out"of the running, only exoollent seamanship enabling the threes to finish. Then tho winner, en route to her moorings, capsized and sank. The first two boats arc_ Queenslanders, and the third, a Tasihanian,
