Tho anti-cyclone which was yesterday moving towards New Zealand is now taking a more northerly course, and sinco last night a slight depression has developed on its southern edgo. As a consequence barometers havo fallen somewhat, x more especially in the south, and southerly winds havo given placo to moderate to fresh northerlies in and south of Cook Strait. Fine weather has prevailed over most of the Dominion, but this morning cloudy skies were more in evidence- about Cook and Foveaux Straits.
The forecast is for mainly fair weather for the time being, but becoming somewhat unsettled in western districts south of Taranaki, with scattered showers. .Moderate- southorlies are likely to tho north of Now Plymouth and Napier, and elsewhere moderato to fresh winds between north and west. The barometer is likely to remain steady in northern, districts, but may, fall in other parts.
