TROUBLE ON SHIP
SECOND ENGINEER FINED

A -fine of W'pounds for assaulting. Captain Hannevig was imposed on Herman Nielsen, aged 33, second engineer of the Norwegian steamer June, \n the Magistrate's Court to-day. On a charge of assaulting the third engineer, S. A. Yggesth, the" accused was convicted, and discharged. .. ..■ . Captain Hannevig said the ac(Sused. had caused trouble at every port since joining the vessel in England last June, and he did not want him on the ship. . "You have to take him away; ho. is a prohibited-imniigrant," said the Mag-, istrate, Mr. Hunt. ' . Later, hdwever, the accused was signed off, the captain furnishing the necessary bond and guaranteeing that the accused would leave the Dominion. This was not the end of/th& June's, troubles. ■ ' . : ■ " At 9 o'clock this morning six members of the crew obtained a launch and left the ship, which was anchored- in. the stream. As.they did not return,, warrants were issued and the men were arrested this afternoon on charges of being absent without:leave. • They will appear in the Magistrate's Court to-; morrow. ; . In the meantime the June, which has* a cargo of phosphate from Nauru Island for Lyttelton and^Port Chalmers, is waiting in the stream.
