CORONER'S FINDING
POLICE ACTION JUSTIFIED
SYDNEY, 17th February.
The Coroner at "West Maitla'nd, at the conclusion of a week's investigation into the Bothbury rioting, when Norman Brown was shot dead by the police and1 others injured, returned a verdict of accidental death. ■ ' • ■ ■. ■.
Ho commended the action of tlje police during the rioting. He said they carried out their duty with forebearanco and commendable restraint.
The Coroner, added: "There is no doubt in my mind that many irioters went to Eothbifry colliery to fleal in no uncertain way with the volunteers employed there. Civilians ! and police should use force, and> if necessary fir»arms, in order to , prevent a disturbance of such a o nature. The outcome .was that the police, numbering sixty, suceeded in preventing the rioters carrying out their unlawful purpose." The Coroner also found that firearms wore used by the rioters. .
