(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CILBISTGHUIiCH,' This Day.
The president of the Canterbury Rugby football League, Dr. Thacker, was suspended by tho management comluitteo of tho League last 'night"until sucli timo as ho appears before the committee "to explain tho various statements attributed to him, and his unconstitutional calling of a meeting of delegates." '
Three Lcaguo players, J. R. O'SJinughncssy, W. J. Lamberton, and A. O'Connor, .were suspended during the pleasure of tho management committee for "acting in a manner, in tho opinion of the committee, bringing discredit on tho game."
Conversation and other extraneous noises ' are rapidly becoming an. intolerable nuisance at "talkie" theatres (states "Victim"). , Noisy late arrivals often spoil tho first part of the programme. "It is always a puzzle to me why people should pay for seats in a talkie show simply to sit and talk to each otheiy as .many seem to do., Perhaps a slide shown before each performance askiug patrons to consider others would cud or at least reduce this nuisance.1' .
