SERIOUS CHARGE DISMISSED

INVERCARGILL, This Day.
At the Supreme Court the jury returned a verdict of not guilty against D'Arey Kerr, a farm labourer, who was charged with rape on a girl of seveuteen, who refused to reply when asked whether she consented.
The Crown Prosecutor said that he did not propose to carry the case further.
His Honour remarked that it would be unsafe, evenly, highly dangerous, to record a conviction. ' v
