SUPREME COURT CASE

The hearing of evidence in the case of Lily Olive Sumner against Laurence Charles Purton was continued in the Supreme Court to-day, before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers. The case concerned a fruit shop at Island Bay which plaintiff agreed to purchase from the defendant.. She sought rescission of the contract, the return of the purchase money (£300), £18 stamp duty, and deposit, and £100 damages. Alternatively, she claimed £418 damages. It was alleged there had been misrepresentation in regard to the business done by the shop. A further claim was for £100 damages in respect of alleged breaches of terms of contract.
