DUNEDIN TOWN HALL

THE OFFICIAL OPENING

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, 16th February. The main chamber of Dunedin's new Town Hall, which has seating accommodation' for 3000 people, was filled to overflowing on Saturday night for the official opening by the Mayor (Mr. R. S. Black). It was a double event, inasmuch as Dr. W. G. Price, of Melbourne, took his seat at the console o,f the great gift organ for the first time officially. Tho evening was occupied with a concert by massed choirs under Dr. V. E. Gahvay and solo work by Dr. Price on tho organ. The meeting accorded musical honours to Mr. and Mr.s. A. S. Paterson for their £17,000 gift of organ after Mr. H. L. Tapley had proposed a vote of thanks. Tho Minister of Railways (Mr. W. B. Taverner) represented the Government, and conveyed Cabinet's hearty congratulations. Tho capacity of the great hall was again taxed to its utmost this afternoon whon a divine service was held under the auspices of the Council of Christian Congregations,
