NARROW ESCAPE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ' AUCKLAND, This Day. A narrow escape was experienced bjr W. A. Cubis, of 25, King Edward street, when he woke at 1 o'clock on Saturday, morning and found his house in flames. He forced his way along the. passage, which was filled with smoke and flames, and reached the open air. His face and arms were scorched aud hair singed. The fire started at the back of the'
house, and when Ciibis woke the flames were entering his room, which was halfway up the passage. The alarm was given by a taxi-driver, and when .the brigade arrived the whole place was ia flames.. ■ • ■
