BASKETBALL
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Soon the basketball season •will be opening for the girls. Last year over 100 girls played.-this game in the well-known uniform of the. Y.W.C.A. This season these same hundred girls and uniforms will be missed from the courts, as the Young Women's Christian Association has decided not to have any basketball teams. Personally I think this is a great mistake. If the club is disbanding owing to lack of a coach, surely there is some "sporty" person in Wellington who will come to the assistance of these girls. If closing owing to financial reasons, I am sure president, vice-presidents, and the teams themselves will overcome that difficulty. I hope the girls will rally round and do their bit to see that the red, black, and green uniform is as well represented in the coming season as in the years past.—I am, etc., A SPECTATOR. The above letter was referred to the general secretary of the association, who stated' that she is notifying last year's players that basketball will not be included in the association's activities this season. Otherwise she had no comment to make at present.
