Signor Mussolini and M.. Briand both began their careers as working journalists, although M. Briand became much earlier than the Duce a newspaper proprietor. Before joining the staff of a newspaper in Paris at £10 a month, M. Briand risked his whole fortune of £100 ou founding at Saint Nnzaire a weekly journal. New machinery' became necessary, and M. Briand bought for £30 some secondhand plant in Paris. He pulled it down and put it up again in his newspaper oflice. Not only is that newspaper—which M. Briand long ago sold—still flourishing, but it is reported' that (he printiug press is going strong!
