STATE OF THE MARKET

The 2\e\v Zealand Dairy Produce Board lias received the following market report from its London office, dated 14th February (with prices for the week before in parentheses):—

Butter.—New Zealand, salted 150s-152s (1525-1545), unsalted 164^-172s (1665-170s); 150s-152s equals approximately Is V&& f.0.b.; Ist; whey 1425. (1465), 2nd-whey 140s (1445); deliveries New Zealand this week,' 1179 tons; in store, 50SS tons, against 2900 tons this time last year. Australian, salted 1465-14Ss (148a-1525), unsalted- 1465-152s (150s-1565). Argentine, unsalted 1465-148s to 150s (1465-150 a). Danish, 168s f.0.b., 1775-17Ss spot (1725, 1765-178s). Dutch, unsalted 184s-188s (186s-188s). Siberian, 148s (150s). Polish, 1365-142s (140s-1445); market slow; retail prices unchanged. Cheese, New Zealand, white 90s, ex 91s (90s-9ls), coloured 88s-89s (SBs-89s); SBs--91s equals approximately 854(1 f.0.b.; deliveries New Zealand this week, 10,936 crates; in store New Zealand this* week, 50,189 crates, against 58,500 this time,last year. Australian, white SBs-89s, coloured 86s-87s. Canadian, white 965-100s (963----100s), coloured 965-98s (965-9Ss); deliveries Canadian 4850 boxes, in store 140,376 boxes, compared last year 2800 boxes deliveries and in store 75,169 boxes. English, finest farmers', 112s-120s; market quietly steady; retail prices unchanged. The prices for New Zealand salted at 15tE February, 1929, was* 178s to 180s, and unsalted 186s to 188s. Cheese this time last year sold at 88s to 89s for white, and 91s to 92s for .coloured. The Bank of New Zealand Produce Department has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week:—Butter: Weak, 150s to 152s per cwt. Cheese: Quiet. Coloured, 87s to 88s; white,.B9s to 90s.
