WEATHER TOO THICK
AIRMEN TURN BACK
LOW PLIGHT OVER STRAIT
Tho weather prevented tho Wellington airmen, Messrs. F. C. Chichester and G. D. M. Goodwin, who set out on Saturday morning to attend tho ai.pageant at Christchurch, from reaching the southern city. They did nob gefc further than Blenheim, and returned home late yesterday afternoon. ■
Flying over Cook Strait tho airmen, encountered very thick fog, and oil some^ occasions they were only 10ft above the water. At Blenheim they found "the surrounding hills enveloped in fog, and were' forced to abandon their trip. The return journey yesterday, which took fifty minutes, was also made under unfavourable circumstances. Mr. Goodwin carried Mr. P. Brandor as a passenger. Both airmen intend attending the Marloorough air pageant next Saturday. Captain G. L. Stedman set out from. Wigram ■ Aerodrome yesterday on his return to Wellington in tho Wellington Aero Club's aeroplane, but was forced to descend at Kaiapoi. After the trouble had been rectified he returned to Wigram Aerodrome.
