TRIBUTE TO NEW ZEALAND

United Press Association—By Electric Telfierapli -Copyright. (Eeecived 15th February, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, 14th February. The Slate Department has transmitted a nlossagc to the British Government from. Admiral Byrd thanking it for offers of aid.
The message reads in part:—"l am eternally grateful for the anxious and friendly concern of the nation of Scott, Shaekleton, Mawson, and Evans, whoso distinguished service always draws from us most friendly and profound admiration for their leadership and abilities. Wo have on all sides received evidence of the cordial interest of the British Empire in our own efforts, more particularly in Now Zealand, which has from tho beginning extended to the expedition tho utmost hospitality and courtesy. . While wo are not yet keenly apprehensive over our predicament, which potentially is quite serious, I am naturally attempting to leave undone nothing that would ensure the safety of my men."
