THE RESIDUE OF AN ESTATE.
The sum oi' fifteen thousand four hundred pounds was the amount of the residue of an estate which was bequeathed by a wealthy shipowner to be divided between all employees who had been for twenty years and upwards without a break in the testator's service, the. allocation to be' made according to length of service. Upon investigation it was found that only three employees were entitled.to participate in this large sum, their ages totalling .one hundred and five years.' The "problem is how long had these men served respectively if "X" received as'his share a sum in the proportion of eighty pounds for every sixty pounds received by "V," and "Z" one hundred and forty .pounds for every one hundred and twenty pounds that "X" was entitled to?
