DAYLIGHT MURDER
ITALIANS IN SYDNEY • MAN STABBED ON STATION" STEPS SYDNEY, 11th February. A cold-blooded murder was committed in broad daylight on the railway stairs at Newt-own station to -day, when a foreigner thrust a large hunting knife- deeply into the right breast of a companion, who collapsed and died without uttering a word. His assailant left the weapon on the stairs and made good his escape. The spot chosen for the crime was one- of tho most populous in Newtown suburb, but a remarkable feature is that nobody saw tho deed committed, or in which direction the assailant disappeared. A ticket clerk sold rail tickets to the victim and his compatriot both spoke victim and his compatriot; both spoke like Italians. They had walked .only a few paces when tho ticket- clerk heard a scuffle anda groan, and noticed the younger man drop to the ground. By the time the clerk arrived on the seen© the other man had gone. /The identity of the victim has not been established.
