WELL-KNOWN LINER
REPORTED SALE
According to the Sydney "Daily Commercial News and Shipping List" the well-known steamer Argyllshire, which has been engaged in the Australian trade, and periodically in the New Zealand service, for many years, is reported to have been sold to the New Zealand Shipping Company. The Argyllshire, which is at present loading at Port Chalmers, is due at Wellington on 27th February, and will leave Lyttelton on sth March for London, via Panama. Of 11,984 tons gross register, the Argyllshire is a sister ship to the New Zealand Shipping. Company's liner Botorua, ex Shropshire, and to the Wiltshire, which was .totally wrecked at the Great Barrier in 1922. She was built at Glasgow by J. Brown and Co., Ltd., for the Scottish-Shire Line (Turnbull, Martin and Co., managing agents) in 1911. .
