The British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Arthur Henderson), in a "message to the churches throughout the Christian world," says that while the League of Nations has cost the countries composing it about £9,500,000 during the last ten years—not much more than the cost of one battleship, which would be scrap iron in two decades—it has been the means of averting seven possible wars.
