OBITUARY

ADMIRAL SIR HENRY JACKSON

British Official Wireless.

(Received 16th December, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, 15th December, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Henry Jackson diod yesterday morning. He was m his 7oth year. He was Chief of the War Staff from 1912 to 1914 and was later first and Principal Aide-de-camp to the King. He was promoted Admiral of the Meet in 1919.

Tho King has sent the following message to the widow of tho lato Admiral expressing his sympathy with her in her sad loss. His Majesty says: "Sir Henry Jackson will be remembered not ouly for his distinguished service in tho kavy, but also for his devotion to tho cause of research as a member of tho Royal Society." In tho Press tributes to the deceased Admiral ho is described as having been tho greatest scientific mind of the modern Navy. He Was made a Fellow of tho Eoyal Society, which is an honour accorded to no one but eminent scientists, for his researches in electrical physics. He was also a member of tho Institute of Electrical Engineers and of the Institute of Naval Architects, and was honoured by many leading societies. As a scientist, his services to the Navy were invaluable. He \ vns olio of the pioneers of wireless A olegraphy.
