FINE WEEK-END
BUT A CHANGE COMING
During the week-end New Zealand was covered by a slight anti-cyclone. The weather was fair to cloudy and warm, and winda were variable and light with southerlies predominating. Yesterday afternoon, however, northerlies became more ia evidence owing to the advance from over tho Tasman Sea of a rather deep depression of cyclonic form. This by 9 a.m. to-day had already begun to affect the South Island, where, with freshening uortherlies. unsettled conditions with rain wore spreading. The tropical disturbance recently aflfocting Fiji seems to have moved away to the south-east. Northerly winds, moderate to strong in force as a whole, are forecasted to reach gale force in places. In tho South Island tho weather is likely to bo cloudy and overcast with general rain developing. Although conditions in the North Island should bo fair at first, it will not be long before unsettled weather develops there too, with rain following. Temperatures will be warm, and thunder in places is not at all improbable.
